The Facts:

This Chapel and the planned activities for the structure will “disrupt an existing community,” placing it in violation of the City’s Environmental Policy Act if properly enforced by District agencies.

There are more than 50 institutions located on almost every block of the community, including 20 churches

There are 9 churches and 5 schools within a two-block radius of the planned building.

The Comprehensive Plan for this community should be followed and would bar a structure such as this.

Underground parking for the massive building will require excavation which can destabilize foundations.

There needs to be a moratorium on additional institutions I the community.

Our community was not notified of the grant of the permit which razed marketable and viable buildings on the property.

The Office of Planning should ensure that the Comprehensive Plan for this residential community is followed.

Please take the time to send an email to these city leaders and tell them that the proposed building is too big and too much for our community.  Tell them that your community already has 20 churches and 50 institutions.  Tell them that with activities throughout the week, the church will bring constant disruptions to the community.  Tell them your own story about the Carter Barron East Neighborhood.
